Returning to the original post about the Alexander Henry (I could not resist another drool!) and AK Mike's question about Fraser's conversion I had a thought (dangerous at my age!) The conversion would most probably have been from percussion, the beautiful fences [classic percussion], the central firing pins and the hammerless sidelocks - rare on later Alexander Henrys, are the major clues I have several photographs of such conversions, some in Donald Dallas' books and they are excellent examples of the gunmaker's art Many top [and not so top] makers offered this service.
