Here are some pics of my James Woodward 303 similar to CptCurl's, made in Aug of 1897 nitro proofs of 38 grs rifleite w/ 215 gr bullet. Purdey records state the gun was made for Dr. W. Seward Webb:his info:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Seward_Webb ![]() ![]() This has a bolted top safety as seen here: ![]() Fine English scroll engraved side locks: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Makers Name: ![]() File cut top rib w/Maker's name and address, and "The Automatic" ![]() Snap action lever: ![]() I took the side locks off, flooded with oil to dissolve the "dust" as in this pic. I wiped and brushed the side locks to get most of the oil off. I especially lubed the tumbler projections where the snap lever cocks the tumblers. ![]() |
