What a beautiful rifle and two great calibres.

I suppose one could question the similar 'power' levels of a 270 gr .375 and a 220 gr 8x75RS, but the 8mm would be so ideal for European hunting of boar and stag, while the 270 gr .375 would make a dandy driven game loading as well, in addition to being adequate for a lot of African hunting.

A German style double rifle, and very nice.

Can anyone tell me, what is the purpose for the two round "holes" machined out of the "hood"? And the correct terms for these features?
