Hi Guys Not sure where to post this, saw the howdah case request in double rifles, move it if wrong I bought this some months ago, they are rare in the UK but I have never seen one this small Barrel length is a touch over 5 inches Calibre is .500 X 1.5" It has been refurbished, (not by me) There is quite a bit of corrosion buffed up Bolted locks are a nice touch Retailer is T Sylvan 44 Bedford Street London, listed as Thomas Sylven 1865-1880 in Brown's "British Gunmakers" London proof marks I made up these inert rounds from old 500 express cases, they took a lot of sizing (50/70 dies eventually did it) The only references to the round I have seen is in Hoyem, which are coil wrapped and look thin Has anyone any ideas of the maker? The hammers look similar to the Rhodda, who were also retailers Comments please TH44 |
