By the way, the man in the one picture is the original owner, Sir Walter Orlando Corbet. This rifle was completed for him in June of 1890. The initials on the case are for Lieutenant Reginald Heber Marion Durand who was the son of Sir Edward Law Durand. Reginald, unfortunately, died in France in 1917 after being mortally wounded while leading a raid on a German trench. He was the first officer in the 38th King George's Own Central India Horse regiment to be killed. - Jim |
