CowboyCS, I like your gun, but I have one idea that I think you need to follow up on. It appears that your gun, when viewed on my computer, at least, seems to have brass screws holding on the gripcap, buttplate, and the trigger guard. New builders, including myself at one time, think that by using brass screws, they remove the chances of these screws rusting. In fact what happens, is that the acid still present in the walnut wood will corrode those brass screws and you may not even know it. When you go to remove them some time in the future, the screw shaft will bind in the wood and the head will break off just below the surface. Bad News! Don't be tempted by brass screws because they match the guns' looks, pull them out and put in steel screws. You'll be glad you did! Keep up the good work! Bob H. |
