A Pair of George Hoenig Rotary Round Action Guns

As requested here are photos of my pair of Hoenig Rotary Round Action DRs. The larger is chambered in 9.3X74R and the smaller in 17HMR. Both are built as good as any "Best Gun" from ANY manufacturer I have ever experienced. And yes, I own several British Best quality guns from 'the era' and from 'the' builders (Purdey, Rigby, H&H and WR) and from what I consider today's 'Best' (Martini Hagn, etc.) The fit and finish on George Hoenig's guns must be experienced to be appreciated. The action is unique, ingenious, and incredibly smooth functioning. Shooting is a joy, and sitting around just cleaing it afterwards is a tactile and visual delight.

As you can see from the pictures, the 17 is proportioned perfectly, and built to be shot by an adult, but lighter and 'slimmed down' rather than misbalanced or truncated. The two are both perfectly balanced, swing more like a good shotgun than a DR, and the scope mount is another bit of engineering genius from George, snap on in a second, secure, and simple.

Different size, same basic case:

The pair, obviously the 9.3 is on top:
