Magnificent piece!
I wonder if it took the elephant in the book displaying the tusks - massive set, taller than those ladies holding them!

Nice Rigby. I don’t think it’s a rising bite and the pictures aren’t showing the top of the action. Rising bite production stopped in 1910 with only special orders for a rising bite done after 1910.

Very nice looking Rigby. I agree that it seems not to be a Rising Bite.

As an aside: I cannot help laughing to myself at the "less than sartorially elegantly dressed" (waist down is a fashion train wreck) chap holding that very classic rifle. I guess I'm just too old school.

I'm led to believe that's fashionable....

...as long as he's not wearing any socks!

Nice rifle tho...

Definitely not a rising bite, if you look closely at the photo with the barrels Open you can see the dolls head extension. chequering looks newly cut and new pad but still a very nice possibly late 1920’s rifle from a great maker

I believe this rifle is in Turkey.

Re: John Rigby .470 NE 1924

I wonder at the significance of the typewriter, books and letter on the typewriter? Was the rifle previously owned by some author or famous hunter?

The photo quality is insufficient to read the letter.
