This is my first post on the forum and I thought I would share a few pictures of my double rifle. It is a 2001 J. Rigby & Co 4th Century Boxlock in .500 NE. It is a sweet shooter and I am proud to own it as my only double rifle (thus far). Hopefully I can take it to the Dark Continent someday to do some dangerous game hunting. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Did you pick that up from Cabela's in Buda, Texas??? Just curious as I had seen one very similar on the web some time ago.. Thx Ripp |

It is the same gun. I actually traded for it from the gentleman that had it on consignment at Cabela's in Buda. Thus, I didn't actually buy it from Cabela's but it was for sale there prior to me acquiring it. Quote: |

Vette447, Welcome here and thanks for posting pictures of your rifle. Since you will be hunting in Africa I know that we shall be able to look forward to a hunt report, and, perhaps, even an article for our E-zine. Hope that your collection expands to include many more double rifles. Welcome again and good hunting! |

Welcome Vette Good to have you here. Hope you enjoy it. What does your 500 shoot like? What ammo? Have you any targets you would like to show us? Always liked the 500's! Regards Alex alexbeer.com |

A very nice .500NE. Do you get to shoot it often? Welcome to NE.com and thanks for posting. Curl |

Thanks for making me feel welcome. I have only shot it with 570 grain ammo (soft point and solids) loaded by Superior Ammunition because that is what it is regulated for. I am anxious to see how it will shoot with the new Hornady DG ammo because it is less expensive for practice. So far it shoots very well but I do not have any targets that I have saved. I have had a lot of fun shooting gallon milk jugs full of water with it. It is very impressive. I have not gotten to shoot it near as much as I would have liked to. However, I plan to take it to the range soon and do a little work/practice at 50 yards. I will try to save a target to post. |

I saw one of these for sale at Cabelas in Hamburg, PA and handled it for a bit. The price at the time was $22,000.00 new. I was thinking of every way possible to make it mine. After unsuccessfully trying to sell my Kidney on eBay, I gave up the thought! ![]() |

Welcome on board Vette447.. You shall know posting pictures of doublerifles on this forum is mandatory |

Quote: Wow! That was a really good price. I think they start at ~$36,000 new now. Too bad you couldn't get the kidney sold, that is about what I had to do to scrounge up the money in time to make my deal. haha |
