The PH models were intended for more 'ordinary' use by game control wardens, etc. I agree with Sinner that no London maker would ever call anything but a sidelock a 'best gun.' Of course, the WR detachable lock or droplock was often built as a 'best' but they aren't from London now, are they. WR also built and still builds sidelocks. My early 1900's droplock in 476 is a 'best gun' by all the relevant criteria other than not being a sidelock. One's best, another's not quite. Not planning on tossing it out of bed for eating crackers, however. Dave
