Re: RE: Book, Shooting the British Double Rifle, please com

Sorry Guys,
I seem to have killed this one stone dead, whereby GW wins the original discussion by default.

Thanks for not flaming me with your disapproval (only on NE does one get this sort of consideration).

So, since no one else will bother, I'll say the last rites.

Yes, the sights as evolved in that patent are 'kinda funny lookin' - but so was the bare-assed affronary of the hammerless db and the form-follows-function Browning A5, when first introduced.

Yes, they have moving parts and may look a bit complicated, unlike the simplicity of an H&H SLE ...

Granted, the patent specs go on and on, covering every imagined permutation that might have got round them, including some that I did not really care for. The sights themselves, however, would be little more difficult to use than any other with adjustable leaves. They do not require an entire book to explain how to make your rifle shoot to point or the risk you may blow it up trying.

I'm sorry I can't show you the final, simplified and aesthetic version; I had a provisional patent on it but was then unable/unwilling to afford the thousands needed to take it international - esp since I had received little encouragement at the time. However, provisional patents were not examined unless their full patents were contended, and it used to be possible to resurrect them later. So, just in case, I'll sit on that one a little longer.

For those who haven't found their way there, I include the sight's Internet address below,
so you can have a laugh.

Cheers
- Paul
