Dugaboy, sorry to disagree with you, but I like my 700 nitro and like shooting it. I like it so much that I have a 4 bore double being made. It will be here in December. Don't think you know how others feel about big bores. I enjoy shooting and collecting really big stuff and have for 25 years.I am not a "look at me guy" If you don't like them fine, but don't talk down to those of us that do like them. If others want to see my big bore stuff fine, but I do not go out of my way to show it off. A lot of people enjoy looking at the really big bores because the fairly unique and there are only a hand full of them around. I have made a lot of sacrifices to buy these rather expensive guns over the years. I like having stuff that not everyone else has. No argument about a 470 or 500 getting the job done too, as I like them also. I guess my point is don't put down others just cause you don't get a kick out of owning a really big bore.

BIGDOG, nobody said one shouldn't buy, or use a 600NE, or 700NE, or a 4 bore, but that wasn't the question! The question was, "what do you think of "MY" the 600NE's usefulness?" The answer to that question is, it is about as useful as tits on a tomcat. It is too heavy to carry all day in heat, it has more recoil that is needed to get the job at hand done, and finally, is in most cases, a "LOOK AT ME" piece of iron and wood, that will never see a head of dangerous game, and will likely never be fired anyplace other that the local shooting range. Like the BMG sniper rifles so popular today, most will never be used for anything but paper punching, and only little of that.

The mind set on these things is usually sort of like the guy who thinks he will look younger in a sports car, or richer in a Cadillac. There are exceptions to that general rule, of course, but they are few, and far between. If you are the one who is different, and the 600NE floats your boat, then set sail, but don't try to tell anyone these things are a useful tool, that can't be trumped by a far more useful tool, that is far more versatile! For all practical purposes, any double rifle larger than a 577NE, is, IMO, going down hill in usefulness, and the 577NE is more than is needed, for any game on earth.

In my post I believe I answered the original poster's question! He asked for my opinion, and he, and you got it! If you disagree, that is your right, and I respect that, why is my opinion, not as valid as yours?
