No, this defeats the purpose of using a soft pad in the first place. Special requirement, here high volume dove and duck shooting, special pita, here a visible "hinge" point in the leather. But over lots of rounds this combo has been comfortable and taken the abuse, while still holding up, despite the visible hinge point in the leather.

FYI, I prefer a checkered wood butt for my shotguns, but with the volume of shooting in SA, the checkered wood butt abrades your shoulder in the course of ~1500round/day. The soft pad conforms and there is no abrassion. The leather isnures catch free mounting. If your shotgun fits like it should, recoil isn't an issue, but the abrassion is.
