Well, nobody is pouncing on it, as they've had it for some time.

Like the rest of the London trade, Rigby couldn't make any money building their own boxlocks, so they bought them in from the Birmingham trade, and most were bought in complete. Like any other "London" boxlock, while the name of the retailer matters to a degree, it's foolhardy to ignore what an individual gun actually is. For example, some Army & Navy boxlocks came from Westley Richards and Webley & Scott, while others came from much less respected gunmakers, and are not of equal quality. Holland & Holland's boxlock DRs were also from Webley. Regardless of the retailer's name, each gun must stand on it's own.

Rigby's best boxlock DRs came from Webley, and a few from Wilkes. From the photos alone, this "Class D" is NOT from Webley, nor is it built on a Webley action, nor is it from Wilkes. While this piece is a bit of a mystery, the action is almost certainly Osborne's version of the screw-grip, not Webley's (I've owned both), meaning that Osborne probably built it. They're of decent quality to be sure, but not up to Webley's standard. In the current US market, were it a Webley built gun in the same condition, maybe $27500. As it is....I think Ripp's guesstimate is more generous than mine would be.
