I used to have a 470 Merkel a while back. I didn't like the square sights on it and they wou't fit the rifle to your particular measurements. They also won't give you the option of express sights,ie v and bead. The only thing that was ok was that I got good wood with it. After I had replaced the sights, modified the LOP for myself and had the triggers polished a bit, I sold it when somebody wanted one worse than I wanted to keep it. I did find that it shot pretty well though. 6 shots at 50 yds. left-right, would touch almost in one huge ragged hole. At 100 yds., it did 3-4". Not bad for a cheaper double.
