Unless you simply wanted a set of 12 ga barrels for your double rifle, then a 20ga size action is fine for a 577 2 3/4" Most cape guns with a barrel for a 577 have a 20 ga shot barrel. The 577 cartridges are very low pressure, and the cases are smaller than the 20 ga shot shell, hence the 20/577 cartridge. 20 ga brass necked down to .585"

The Ruger Gold lable action is pleanty strong for converting to a 577!
