I've seen a number of Scherping's over the years and what sticks in my memory about them is that very same tang mounted peep sight. I've never seen a Scherping rifle that didn't have it, including the doubles. Ross Seyfried had an article in the Spring 05 DGJ that featured a Scherping single shot. Same sight. They were also common on Sauers.
