how and where can we locate that information on our own? Was curious if it gives any other information

The table I have is in Nigel Brown's "London Gunmakers", which I believe is now called "British Gunmakers, Volume One". For the year 1914, the numbers are 7699 to 7814. That should mean that those are the first and last numbers assigned in that year. Since your gun falls between them, theoretically, it should be from 1914. However, due to the way that things worked in the trade, that isn't always true. You can only be certain by accessing the maker's records. Most do charge 25 to 35 pounds to do so. The Watson records do survive. The "1" would mean that it's the No. 1 gun of a pair.

The last information I have for Michael Louca / Watson Brothers is 39 Redcross Way, London Bridge, SE1, 1HG. Tel./Fax 0171 403 3367. Last I heard, Michael Louca was still Managing Director. If you've already tried to contact them unsuccessfully, perhaps someone here will have more current contact information.

Hope this helps.
