I offer this caveat to "a 'best' gun is almost always a Sidelock." Unless, of course, it is a Westley Richards droplock. I have always considered those to be a 'best gun' as they are built with the same care and attention, although the 'sidelock' mechanism just happens to be located in a different part of the gun
