Thanks all, Bulldog, I don't have a close up but the rear sight is a wide V with an engraved line in the center. The line was just simply engraved, but as we speak the rifle is at G&H for a stock refinish and to have the line "inlaid" in platinum. The rear sight also has two filed in flip up blades. They are umarked for yardage but I would guess 100yds and 150. Haven't really tried them, except the first one which I use for my 350gr load @ 50yds. The standing blade is thick at the base and tapers toward the top and the sides and corners are rounded to prevent catching on anything. I removed the cheek piece and also removed some wood from the right side of the stock to effectively create cast on for this lefty. If you go to the link I provided in my earlier post you can see the rifle with the cheek piece removed and a temporary finish on the wood exposed in the removal of the cheek piece and wood from the right side. Not a bad finish, but not up to G&H capabilities. Also, I never loved the original finish, it got a bit sticky in very high temps, like in the Zambezi Valley in Oct. JPK |
