This looks to me like a typical "battue" gun designed for hunting situation where most shots are usually within 50 yards.
You are sitting "ventre au bois" and shooting game such as roe-buck or wild boar when they jump the path in the woods. There is normally much less than a second to acquire the target and kill.
I.e. speed is at a premium compared to accuracy.
This looks like a nice gun!
