I think you can push lead bullets to 2000+ fps with out leading with out using gas checks. Try doing a search for LBT there are a group who have done extensive research on lead bullet casting alloying and heat treating. I have shot full house weal weight alloy loads out of a 454 casull with out excessive leading. I would try the bullets with out gas checks and see how they do.
