Sounds like a fun project. Here are my thoughts: I would specify the weight not to exceed 9lbs and not to be less than 8 1/2lbs, without the scope. Splinter forend! No palmn swell! 26" barrels! Back action and not bar action! I believe that H&H's scope mount is for bolt rifles only. If so then go for claw mounts. Royal engraving. 50yds standing sight to shoot to the POA. If you want the 100yd standing sight and the folding peep to shoot 1" high at 100yds thats great. You need to specify front bead diameter. Specify a spare - in a trap grip cap!! The skeleton grip cap is not traditional or functional, the trap grip cap is both and probably cheaper too. Leather covered hard pad!! An "option" worth its weight in gold!! Specify the sling mounts and also the sling swivels too. Hooks are ok but make sure you know what you're getting. GET EJECTORS!!! Specify lever forend release and not an Anson release. Specify bolstered frame and third fastener. Specify the regulation load and have it engraved on the rifle. Specify a long top strap and an extended trigger tang. I would specify a bolted safety. Specify intercepting sears, the Royal should have them but why leave it to chance. Specify trigger pulls. 3 1/2-4lbs right,4lbs-41/2lbs left. Specify a beaded trigger gaurd. Specify a platinum center line in the standing blades. Specify double triggers - shouldn't be nessecary, but... Try your best to specify grip radius. Open is good. Gold oval in stock or name/initials engraved on rifle. Specify stock measurements - you said this but it is so important I needed to say it agian!! Get the Shcmidt& Bender or at least a Swarovski. When you need to notice a difference it will be too late and there is a HUGE difference at dawn and twilight. Great luck! JPK |
