Cartridge box question.

Didn't know how else to word the title but I am curious as to the reason British ammo makers made 5 round boxes of ammo for the big double rifle calibers. It would make sense to me to have a six round box but I was never consulted by Kynoch on the matter. Having never seen any of the older German ammo boxes were they packaged the same? Also had a bit of good fortune recently. As I had posted earlier I have purchased a 500 BPE double from my friends family after he passed away in December. Well, the original sling has been located. It has hooks on each end and is a 1 1/4 inch wide leather strap that is adjustable in length. No maker marks are visible but the leather is getting a little bit frayed so I will try to have a duplicate made. Also, does anyone have a picture of an original box for 500 Black Powder Express ammo? Dave didn't have any and I've never seen one. Thanks, Chris.
