I have a J. Winkler in .300 Win. Mag. that really delivers. View it here. The last time I shot it long range I took a whitetail across a harvested cornfield at the distance of 265 yards, one shot.

It regularly shoots 1 1/4" 4-shot groups at 100 yards. It is regulated for 220 grain bullets, so it is ready for elk and larger species.

It took two black bears in B.C. in May 2005. Both were inside 100 yards, one shot kills.

The medium bore DR's can really shine. Don't believe they are only for up close and personal.
