Re: DOUBLE DOUBLING!! PREVENTABLE FATAL ERROR??

4seventy

My point exactly. It is physically impossible for a backward recoiling rifle to cause an accidental trigger pull for mechanical reasons. I was trying to be polite, but I suspect that most people who experience doubling with rifles which suffer no mechanical problems are actually suffering from a form of flinching. While the recoil (or the reaction to it) is the cause of the flinching, the recoil itself is not.

I mentioned too odd trigger technique. I have no proof for this one, but I believe it may be a contributor. Given the lateral relationship between the triggers and their separation on firing the front trigger, some people may be simply hitting the rear trigger with the tip of their trigger finger. I have noticed a tendency of some people to wrap their trigger finger around a trigger instead of squeezing with the pad part of the finger. They seem to want to pull the trigger with the first joint of the finger. If this is done, the tendency is then for the first joint of the finger to point to the rear, where it could contact the rear trigger when pulling the front one. If this were the case, simply practicing better trigger technique may solve the problem.
