Gentlemen, The intercepting sears on all of my sidelock firearms allow a trigger pull to release the intercepting sear and the hammer or striker to fall. While I have never knowingly fired a barrel where an intercepting sear has prevented a doubling, I believe that the hammer fall from the intercepting sear is plenty sufficient to fire the firearm. I have tripped an intercepting sear with a lock out of the gun and the force of the hammer fall was impressive and painful when it mashed my finger. I do not believe that a double gun would need to be reopened to recock it to make it functional after an intercepting sear has done its job. I am curious though, and when the weather breaks I'll have to give it a go. JPK |
