Thanks for the replies so far. Very interesting. I don't mind being wrong or people proven the opposite. Sometimes being "devils advocate" gets more results than everyone agreeing with everyone else.

Anything from the members here who own reasonable collections of older vintage DRs?

I remember one member had a DR where the left barrel was designed with long range sights, but the right barrel was only marked for short range.
