Funny story about my double rifle.

Well, actually it happined when my friend Dave owned it. This was back in the early 70's and Dave lived in Memphis at the time. He hunted somewhere in Mississippi, only an hour or so drive. Well, it was a hunting club with several members and guest at times. Dave had decided to try the .500 double this day. It looks like an old double barrel shotgun from a distance and most people have never seen a rifle like this. He was in the woods at daylight and waited till lunch to walk back to the little club house and eat. There was sombody there who was a guest and he had a new Marlin lever gun in the recently, at that time, introduced .444 Marlin. It's no weakling but....Dave said this guy had a live round in his hand waving it around raving about how powerful it was, would go through this, kill that etc. Dave was sitting on the ground eating a sandwich and listening. He said "I listened to that s&*% for a while and got all I wanted. I called the guy over to see the cartridge he was going on so about. He handed it to me and I really was curious so I gave it a once over, stood up and grabbed my double which was leaning against a tree. Opened the breech, withdrew one of the long .50 rounds, placed it between my fingers and dropped the .444 down the barrel. It rattled down the bore and fell out on the ground, I reloaded the double, handed the guy his cartridge and sat back down. The guy never made another sound". I always got a laugh about that. I guess the old saying of "Use enough gun!" is still working.
