My reason for enquiring re the 30-30 conversion was purely on the basis of the rim/rimless arguement and extraction....and surprise surprise it would appear that there are some extraction issues. Couldn't be bothered farting about with resizing cases and so on. So perhaps I'll go straight .308 and fiddle with the sights (if required) and see how one plays.
Very fair point by Michael... at this price these things are for knock abouts nothing more nothing less..........and who knows in the hands of people who get out and do a bit away from the rarified atmosphere of the theorists and once or twice a year folk the thing might actually prove to be a practical hunting rifle about which one doesn't have to worry too much.
Mind you it could be a complete pigs...well you know
