I've just purchased my first double, a .500 N.E. Krieghoff "Classic Big Five". I've fired two rounds from a standing position, just to see what the recoil was like and how well the open sights were already pointing. The recoil was not as strong as I had expected, and I'll have no problem with it in a hunting situation. HOWEVER, I'd now like to take a few shots from my bench, and I would appreciate advice on the extent to which I can add weight to my shooting rest so as to minimize the recoil to my shoulder--without any risk of initiating any cracking of the stock or other problems that too-solidly anchoring this gun might lead to. Your guidance, please?..... Thank you. |
