I took my double rifle hunting Friday. Snapped on the 470 NE barrels, dropped in two 500 grain Woodleigh softs in the barrels and went off in pursuit of a boar. All I could think of was man this gun is heavy as hell to carry around. My sincere appreciation and respect to anyone that can carry this thing around for miles and miles in pursuit of game. This fat boy is out of shape. But I carried it all day long and finally came across a boar. He was angling toward me hidden by a tree. He stuck his head out, then the neck and shoulder and stopped. I’d been practicing for months with this gun and knew this was an easy shot. About 35 yards I pulled the trigger. Impact was phenomenal; a cloud of dust surrounded the entry just forward of the onside shoulder. The exit hole went threw the offside shoulder. The boar was literally knocked off his feet and dead instantly. What impact, shock and devastation were sent from this bullet. I did it and my gun has now been broken in. Now to get in shape. |
