I have a friend who wishes to go on an Alaskan Brown bear hunt in Alaska in 2008.As most know the weather there is obscene with sun, heavy rain, sleet, all possible in a matter of hours. Any suggestions on weatherizing a Merkel Double to with stand that environment.I would be conerned about the innards of the boxlock action as well as the wood and rust starting in the barrels. If this is not possible I will revert to my synthetic 416 Rem bolt. But the 500 Double would sure be more comfortable following a big bear into the alders---- |
