Re: BEST SCOPE /STOCK FIT on a Double Rifle

I had to have the stock "cheek piece" (even if there isn't one ) trimmed on my Chapuis (UGEX). It was too low for natural scope use and too high for open sights. It was a lousy compromise for me. I shot it for a while as delivered, but the pain in my cheek bone when using open sights quickly convinced me to go find a pro to trim it down. Like 450No.2 I'm using a lace on pad that I can quickly remove if need be. Right now my problem is either a bum scope, or a bum trigger man behind the stock. When I first got it, 2 ea. lefts and rights (S&B factory) would print into < 1" @ 100 yds, benchrested. Right now it appears to print pretty much anyplace (same ammo) in an 8" circle @ 100 yds. I'm going to head out to the range again in the next few days and shoot it with scope, and without scope, and perhaps with a second scope to try and figure out what is going on.

The EAW swing mounts were delivered with the rifle. The rifle has "blanks" in the rib for the EAW bases (at least the UGEX has, I can't speak to the larger framed rifles), so putting a scope on the rifle is not a major problem. Pilgrim
