Re: Choosing a caliber for North America

Hey flowerboy!

I just had to do that!

Anyway, a nice choice for the caliber might be 8x57JRS. It is a rimmed 8x57 with the "new" .323 bore.

I have a scoped Dumoulin sxs rifle that is regulated for 196 bullets. I have also worked up loads on US available 170-175, and 200 grain bullets.

Pretty rifle and is a dream to shoot and will take anything this country has to offer. Maybe not brown bear? I would use something heavier!

There are many makers that can hook you up with this option and it makes for a powerful and liteweight rifle.

I agree, that on a break open rifle, go with the flanged round.

Just my 2 cents worth!
