Choosing a caliber for North America

Im just in the planning stage so far for a medium caliber Double Rifle to be used exclusively in the US and Canada. Unfortunetly it will spend more time stalking paper than fur. When it does go to the field its adversary will most likely be whitetail and wild boar.

I like rimmed cartridges for doubles and single shots, so Im thinking something like 30-40, or possibly 303. Im open for opinions and other options. I have a 30-30 and a 45-70 DR, so Im looking for something else.

Im thinking the rifle should be comfortable to carry and shoot but I dont want a light weight. I havent decided yet but I might even scope it
