Re: Lancaster C grade 450-400

There's on old string on this rifle. It's been for sale for a long time. There's probably a reason for that. Trade built rifle originally of good quality. I had a Watson Brothers that was almost identical.

I haven't handled this rifle, but have two friends, both sharp DR guys, who have. If you decide to make a run at it, this one really needs to be carefully evaluated by a pro first, especially the stock. I have a hunch that it may turn out to be an action, barrels, and fore-end iron. A first class complete restock is very expensive. The fore-end wood has chips out of both sides, which can probably be successfully repaired, but "probably" doesn't translate to value. The stock head has been repaired, but doesn't look to be well done.

If it turns out to need a full restock, but is in excellent condition otherwise, I think it's worth around $5,000. Additional problems will reduce that.
