Re: Books on Double Rifles?

Heres a bit of an opinion; BUT I for one am sorry I wasted my money $150.oo(US) on The Express Rifle by Saul Bracess.

Its advetised in the Double Gun Journal, so I thought it might be worth the money. Its a large format like Mark Sullivan's book, more of a coffee table size book. The size limited me to reading it only at home. I find it difficult to carry something that big around for casual reading.

When it arrived, I eagerly opened the box only to find half the book is in Spanish, and the half that is English is a poor translation. It does have a decent amount of photos; but due to the pages being split in half (Spanish/English), the photos dont seem to be in sequence with the text. The English captions are even worse than the text tranlations.

Even setting aside the translation issue, its not a $130.oo book. Take away the extra pages for the translation and you have approxiamently 50 pages.

If you like pictures and read Spanish like a native, buy it; but I keep thinking about all the ammo I could have bought........
