There are literally dozens of books on Double Rifles.

I suggest for a starter you try Gray's "Hammerless Double rifle" for an overview on Double Rifles.

"Shooting Field" Holland and Holland

There are many other fine books and you can get as technical as you would like to get but I think these will get you a basic introduction and are all interesting reads.
