In reply to: I think that's a sucker bet. As mentioned above, this is the Wolverton gun being auctioned. Given that, from the looks of things, the rifle comes with a pair of presumably original cases, a pair of bullet moulds and a bunch of accompanying paperwork relating to rifle and Wolverton, I'd be surprised if it didn't go for a lot more than $25K. Being that there are a few 8-bore rifles out the for sale right now for 25-30K and an H&H paradox for sale at 21K, I can't imagine this one selling for less than 27-30K WITHOUT taking into account all the other neat stuff that comes with it. Also, none of the other mentioned guns have the engraving that this one does so my completely amateur prediction is 35-40K. I'm no expert but it seems to me that there may be a few die-hard anglophiles interested in the gun who would never in a million years consider shooting it (or even hunting in general for that matter). These are the guys who could take the bidding above what anyone might expect. Any other estimates as to the selling price from those more knowledgable on the subject? John |
