I realize that the discussion was about the double rifle in the movie, a detail to which the movie makers apparently paid little attention, however my point concerning the twelve bore paradox rifle and the 12 bore shotgun were in reply to your suggestion that there was no mention of a double rifle in Patterson's account of the Tsavo happenings, when in fact he mentioned carrying both weapons at variuos points during the hunt. I also realize that many hunters carried large bore black powder rifles to hunt dangerous game, and thats why I hypothosized that, based on the rifle's relatively small bore, that perhaps the rifle was intended by the moviemakers to have been a Nitro Express rifle.
