Re: DOUBLE RIFLE- LEGAL PREHISTORIC RELIC??

In reply to:

Entertained my "know it all" (every family has one!)brother in law this weekend and got into a hunting debate. He hunts whitetail and has never shot anything more powerful than a 30.06 and sees no need for anything else.

We discussed DR's and he responded that they were prehistoric low tech just like double shotguns and have only survived due to snobs with a gun fetish and African laws prohibiting semiautomatic weapons.Bolt actions were better, etc etc.

My dad, rest his old soul thought the old "thutty ought six" would take the moon out of the sky, and you should have heard him when he was told he was not going to be allowed to hunt Cape Buffalo with his old FN 30-06!

I had an old Manton 577NE double rifle, and he fired it one time, and eventhough I warned him it wasn't a 30-06, he didn't listen. He had a blood shot shoulder for a week after his one, and only shot with that rifle!
