To me, anyway, a double rifle is a great tool. And the rifle in and of itself is a wonder to behold when you consider its mchanics. But any rifle is a tool. It is a tool that furthers an "art". The rifle is the brush and the hunt is the canvas. The real art is how one uses that brush against the canvas, to finally step back looking at the result, and thanking God for the opportunity and the grace to take one of his wonderful creatures in the neverending cycle of life, in a cathedral we call the outdoors. There are some beautiful rifles out there, but most will seldom see the outside of a safe. Hunting is the art, and there are many among us that can create a Rembrandt with second hand paint brushes. |
