Elmer Keith often mentioned that he preferred a wide V style rear sight and a sourdough front sight (not a bead) , also on his big doubles. Has anyone on the forum tried this combination? I would assume that the top of the front sight should be aligned with the top of the V. Quote from G&A, July 1978: "The best hunting front sight for me, both handgun and rifle is the Sourdough front with a gold face and a square top. I have them on most of my rifles, both bolt action and my big double elephant guns". |
