If it isn't obvious, I just joined this site, on a referral from AR. Obviously looking hard a purchasing a double. My expeience with s/s shotguns may be relevant- my Merkel, when I carry it, is like holding a pretty girl's hand. My Charles Daly is a banger that stays in the trunk and does everything I ask of it (no female analogy here I would acre to dream up or proffer). My Beretta is in the middle. Seems doubles are the same- I think you agree? For example, a Searcy does not set my heart racing, but I know it is reliable, on face, backed by the manufacturer and will do what I ask. Some English doubles I handled at SCi were like...pretty girls. Chapuis, Kreighoff, somewhere in the middle. It's all a trade off isn't it? Knowing me, I think if I get a Searcy, it won't be long before I am wrangling a trade for a nice English DR. Still, quite a leao to fork out that kind of cash on an unknown- how much will the DR engage me? A lot of you guys swear by em, so if yo have any input on my ramblings, please express them (pun intended) before I write a big check here in a few days or so.... |
