I handled the H&H .700NE in Las Vegas several years ago. It was the centerpiece of their display at the Antique Arms Show. There was no price on the rifle, so I inquired. I was told that the rifle is not for sale as it is used for promotions, etc. Having gone that far, I then took the next step. I asked what it would cost to order one like it. The reply was, "Somewhat in excess of $250,000." The US dollar has slid right far against the GBP since that day, so the cost today would be a good bit more. At that time there were 10 .700NE Royals extant, with one in production. So I am not surprised to hear that H&H turned down an offer of $300,000. They can't replace it for that amount, I would guess. If they intend to keep it, as I was told, they will have to brave some stout offers. Curl |
