Re: VALUE OF 700 NITRO EXPRESS ?

Hi Ken

Hope you are felling a little better in yourself. I finally made it back from Corfu with day time temps of over 100 degrees, more than i am used to.

The Wilkins rifles were made under that name in the U.K trade for Chris soyser as has been said.

Trevor proctor, a good friend, did a small maount of the magazine rifles for them, mainly in .404.

Trevor is building my own .600 at present and if you check out the thread kindly posted for me by Mehul you will see pictures of progress to date.

A boxlock .700 made here is a rairity indeed, but I would hazard a guess that to do a similar one today on the same layout would require around £40,000 minimum worth of investement (app $73,000US)

Based upon that rationale the prices asked over with you are not all that unrealistic. however the real question is do potential buyers see that worth, if on one will pay such prices then they are indeed high. Prices for double rifles do seem to be on the up however. The .700 built for Mark sullivan by Michael Louca at Watson Bros was up fpr sale a while ago with a tag price of over $100,000, i do not know if it ever sold.
