Re: Rifle case

Welcome Singh!

In addition to Americase (which are excellent) other top quality cases are Dan Walter and Bear Track. Dan Walter was bought by Dakota, which is now in Chapter 11. Don't know what the quality is like today, but I have one pre acquistion and it is top of the line.

Bear Track is associated with Freedom Arms. They look like tanks, and are tough.

If you are going to do a good bit of traveling and hunting, check out the Tuffpack. You will need a good rifle case to go into the Tuffpack, and for a doouble rifle you will have to have a mutton leg case. Roosevelt and Drake has some beautiful mutton leg caes for DR's in the US. If you are going to the fied, you will need to being a case anyway.

The Grizzly review on these cases:

Dan Walter is the Ferarri of cases. All welds are inside, and the finish is outstanding. The cons - aside from the fact that their parent is in bankruptcy, they have only built in locks, i.e., no outer rings to put seperate locks on.

Americase - nice, not the finish of a Dan Walter, but not with the price either, and just as tough. Same lock issue though.

Bear track. They are not pretty. But they are well made. Outside rings built into the frame for your own locks. Not cheap.

Tuffpack. They have one of those vending machine style locks, which are tough to pick. Looks like a golf bag, a good thing. And since you'll need to bring a field case along, pretty convenient.

I took a Tuffpack to Kodiak Island, Alaska and it sat outside in the weather for 15 days. No rust on the lock and no issues with the case.

Other cases I have used, and I have used many, don't measure up.

I suppose Pelican is a decent case. But I had two break. No rifle damage, but I had to replace the cases.
