It appears that 'B.J. HORTON. GUN & RIFLE MAKERS. CROMARTY. SCOTLAND' have made double rifles for Asprey, although I am unsure which Asprey it was.

Extract from Holts catalogue 22 June 2006 Lot 587

A VIRTUALLY UNUSED B.J. HORTON .303 SIDELOCK EJECTOR DOUBLE RIFLE, serial no. 01000, 24in. nitro barrels with sight-rib, gold-inlaid open sights for 100, 200 and 300 yards and ramp-mounted bead foresight, rib engraved 'B.J. HORTON. GUN & RIFLE MAKERS. CROMARTY. SCOTLAND', treble-grip action with hand-detachable lockplates, manual safety, external trigger pull adjusting screw, best bouquet and scroll engraving, retaining virtually full original colour-hardening and gold-inlaid borders, the underside gold-inlaid with the maker's name, the triggerplate signed 'inc. Melo Rinniui', 14 1/2in. figured pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, engraved, gold-inlaid and colour-hardened pistolgrip-cap and heel and toe-plates, weight 8lbs. 8oz. The maker has kindly confirmed that the gun was completed in 1976 on an action and lockplates purchased from William Ford, where he was working at the time under Alan Thornton. He later became the owner of Dan'l Fraser and made a number guns for Asprey gunmaker's in the 1980's
See illustration on page 199 £7000-10000

Norman
