Re: Searcy third bite?

I looked at a Searcy 470 on the Browning action today at a Gun show. the current owner claimed that the previous owner had it gone completely through by Searcy a year or so ago and it looked to be in nice condition.

Wood was good, checkering crisp, blueing nice and little sign of any wear.

The owner claimed the bullets crossed at 20 yards and had a 12 inch spread at 50. He claimed this was all that was needed as Elephants were pretty big and hard to miss. He also claimed that it was the best shooting Double he had seen.

83 grains of R15 with Dacron filler/ Woodleigh Bullet.

The rifle was also off the face. You could see through the crack in the breach the full height. With the rifle open you could feel it wiggle by shaking the stock.

US$8950.00

No point in arguing with an expert like that.
